Build Your Butler is a free course that teaches AI by building something real: a household butler that works for you, on your own Mac.
It grew out of a butler one family built for themselves and still uses every morning. The software behind it, Butler, is open source. The course turns it into something anyone can set up, with Claude doing the technical work.
Getting help
- Ask Claude. In your Butler folder: “Something went wrong. What happened, in plain words?”
- Run the health check. Type
/butler-doctorin Claude Code. - Tell us. Every lesson ends with a Something didn’t work for me button. We read every report and use them to improve the lessons.

Ask for an advanced module
Which advanced module do you want next? Requests decide the order. Write to us at support@buildyourbutler.com with the module’s name.
Support the course
The core course is free, and it stays free.
- Buy us a coffee. If your butler saves your household some hours, a coffee keeps the lessons coming. (Link coming soon.)
- Use our Lunch Money link if you decide to sign up. Lunch Money pays us a one-time referral fee when you become a paying subscriber. It costs you nothing extra, and Butler works the same either way. Lunch Money
- Tell a friend who’s scared of tech.
Reporting a security problem
If you find a security problem in the Butler software, please don’t post it publicly. Use the private reporting described in the Butler repository’s SECURITY.md, at github.com/nerolabs/butler.
