The short version: your butler runs on your Mac, and we never see your household’s information. We keep only your email, your butler’s name, which lessons you’ve done, and what you type into this website’s forms.
This policy covers buildyourbutler.com and your Build Your Butler account, run by [ENTITY NAME] (“we”). The Butler software on your Mac sends us only your sign-in and which lessons you’ve started and finished. Nothing about your household. This policy doesn’t cover the third-party services you connect to your butler.
What we never receive
Your calendar, reminders, emails, budget, transactions, projects, documents, ID numbers, passwords, API keys and anything else your butler handles. That information stays on your Mac, or goes directly from your Mac to services you choose, such as Anthropic, Google and Lunch Money, under their privacy policies.

Our host, Netlify, stores your account and the form submissions for us. Resend, our email provider, sends the sign-in emails and, if you asked for them, the weekly emails. Sign-in links and sessions are stored only in scrambled form (as hashes), so even we can’t read them.
What stays in your browser
The lesson checkboxes on this website are saved in your own browser’s storage. They’re never sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears them. Your account’s progress comes from the setup app on your Mac, not from these checkboxes.
No tracking
We don’t use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or third-party fonts. Our host keeps basic server logs, such as IP addresses and pages requested, to run and protect the site. [Review against Netlify’s current logging and retention.]
Emails
Weekly emails go only to people who asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We don’t sell, rent or share your email address with anyone, except the providers that run the site and send the emails for us.
How long we keep it
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
- The agreement record: for as long as you use the course, and for [PERIOD] afterwards, as evidence of the terms you agreed to.
- The waitlist: until the Windows edition launches and we’ve emailed you, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Problem reports: for as long as they help improve the course, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to support@buildyourbutler.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as under the GDPR or US state privacy laws, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. Children
The course is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the version and date at the top, and tell people on the weekly email list about material changes.
